Great Bay Kids Summer Program 2010!

Learning Tai Chi & Yoga

No previous Tai Chi or Yoga experience is necessary to join the Kids' Summer Program!

Session I - July 12 - July 16, 2010
Session II - August 9 - August 13, 2010
This year's Great Bay Summer Kids' Program will consist of two separate weeks of all-day activities. Students will practice yoga, Tai Chi, Tai Chi Fan, Tai Chi Saber, Tai Chi Push Hands and meditation. As part of the morning activities, between 9:30 and 11:30, students will learn these forms and will also learn the Yoga Sun Salutation. The afternoons will be PLAY TIME with board games, including strategy games like chess and checkers. Hikes and swimming will be included in the afternoon activities on some days.

Weather permitting, most activities will be practiced outdoors. Drop off and pick ups will either be at the Amesbury Studio or Danvers Plaza.

Drop off: 9:00 a.m.; Pick up - 5:00 - 5:30 p.m. or earlier when arranged. Students will visit parks and beaches according to the weather forecast on a given day.

Yoga Sun Salutation: These 12 poses, which are linked in a series, can strengthen, flex and extend the muscles and soft tissue of the body while distributing the energy flow (chi or prana) throughout the system. It also warms up the body and enhances circulation. This famous set will be a good tool for children to have throughout their lives.

Field trips on Fridays: This year's field trips will be Laser Quest in Danvers, Mass and either the Museum of Science or Water Country, depending on the results of a vote.

Cost: $375. for the five-day camp or $360. per week, if enrolled in both weeks.

Great Bay Tai Chi Kids Program

An after school program that is designed to be fun, but challenging.

Students will their improve strength, flexibility, and balance while learning a Yang Style Tai Chi form.


Tai Chi and Push Hands practices provide the foundation necessary to achieve the best Tai Chi results that are woven into the fabric of every aspect of this class.
Classes include:
  • Taoist meditation and Qigong practices for a mind/body connection
  • Introduction to Self-Defense techniques from Tai Chi, Hsing yi and Chin Na
  • Students will also learn at least two bare hand Tai Chi forms.
  • Intro to Tai Chi Fan
  • Intro to Tai Chi Saber

Tai Chi Arts for Teens

A more comprehensive study, that is
suitable for students ages 12 and up.

The same subjects,
  • Classical Tai Chi Form
  • Yoga
  • Push Hands
  • Wooden Ball
  • Strengthening
  • Meditation
  • Weapons (including Saber, Fan, Sword)
  • Qigong (Chi Kung)
The meditation practices are designed to give the students tools for dealing with daily stress and to teach them how to start the practice of energy circulation for health and martial application, a well-rounded Tai Chi experience.

Relaxation, better concentration, more confidence, improved coordination, strength and flexibility.
